Computational Mechanics & Optimization (CMO) is a research group from Department of Engineering Mechanics, Faculty of Applied Science, Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology, Vietnam National University – HCM. The group has expertise in mechanical, thermal modelling and simulation, specializing in areas such as numerical methods, structural analysis, computational fluid dynamics, mechanical modelling and optimization. Along with academic research and publications, CMO group also has cooperation with industrial partners.
From 2019 to the present, the CMO group has carried out three international projects funded by Ireland through the Vietnam–Ireland Bilateral Education Exchange (VIBE) program. These projects focus on the development of wave energy harvesting devices and smart energy conversion devices using piezoelectric materials. The project outcomes have contributed to improving the research capacity of research groups and strengthening academic exchange for lecturers and students of HCMUT.
